End-User

Who is Pilot?

Pilot Marketing Group was founded by David Hunter in 1994 with the mission to help bridge the color technology gap between available solutions and qualifying them to ensure they work for end users. We teach the five day Implementing color management workshop at PIA/GATF as well as the three day Advanced Color Workshop so we get to try most of the products on the market and test them in real world situations. We support over 100 active dealers in North America, most specialized on providing color control solutions.

We also guarantee every sale with training. You have our word on it.

Your Source for Color Management Solutions

If your organization has needs related to Color Management, and or Remote Proofing then Pilot Marketing Group in conjunction with your preferred dealer has the software solutions and expertise that can be critical to your organization implementing this technology successfully.

Why you need to purchase from a Dealer supported by Pilot Marketing Group

Color management solutions are not plug and play. Pilot has 20+ years experience in providing solutions that work, and that customers are happy with. Pilot partners with Dealer salespeople to assess customers needs and determine what their optimum solution is based on the clients expectations and budget. Pilot can also accompany the dealer during the initial implementation to ensure the product is set up correctly. Our Solutions have been thoroughly tested by our staff and benchmarked against competitive offerings in actual end-user sites. They are Solution based, and integrate into a wide variety of customer configurations.

The “Myth”

Color Management is plug and play, we can figure it out.

  • Rendering Intents are a method to map out of gamut colors in gamut, do they make much of a difference? Absolutely, they can make or break a sale. Well, I heard that you should always use Perceptual for images-Wrong, not always.

  • What are the limitations of embedding profiles into EPS vs. TIFF vs. JPG vs. Photoshop?

  • How can ColorSync accommodate legacy CMYK files or files from third party?

  • Can GRACoL 7 help your color management?

  • How often do you have to re-profile? How can you ensure that standards are being met

  • How close do two colors have to match for it to be acceptable?

  • What can a user change in the profile to accommodate two images, Polar bear in a snowstorm and a black cat in an alley. Does it require building two profiles

  • Pantone Bridge, they changed 95% of the CMYK values for Pantone colors, how can you manage the results?

  • How can you be assured that the RIP is not applying any curve/LUT/transform to your output? Why is this important?

  • Do you print on Fabric, or other unusual substrates? If so, what kind of instrument functionality should you look for to get accurate measurements.

  • Digital Press? How do you ensure that it is stable, linear, and in a profiled state? Each press technology is different and requires different steps, some, not even the manufacturer will tell…

  • If the person or company that you are purchasing Color Management technology does not know the answer to these questions, you are asking for failure. Color Management technology works when it is implemented correctly and expectations are managed. Do not be over sold, do not be disappointed. Ensure that Pilot Marketing Group is behind your purchase.
